Dean Village

My favourite exploring buddy has been in town recently so of course there was nothing else to do but slip on some comfy shoes and walk/eat our way around Edinburgh. We took the train to Haymarket and made the short walk up to one of the most beautiful areas of the town; Dean Village. We started with a bit of a wander around the mews trying to pick out which one we liked best...its too hard.

We headed down towards the river which was just beautiful in the sunshine; i just had to share these photos with you.

It's sometimes hard to believe that there are places like this in Edinburgh; It felt more like being somewhere in Europe.

Frances and I just couldn't stop snapping - in fact you should check out her photos cause they're awesome!

We headed up from the village and over Dean bridge which gives you this cracking view!

Just down the road there is a street with some of the most beautiful houses you will find possibly anywhere.

By the time we were ready to move on it was late morning, also known as snack time. A short walk to Stockbridge, past this very cute vintage car, took us to our cafe of choice.

Cuckoo's Bakery, which although we'd both heard about before neither of us had visited... what more of an excuse do you need?

You have to go! the salted caramel cupcakes are amazing, and I just love how they have the cuckoo clocks on the sugar bowls; its so cute!

This is the problem with exploring Edinburgh; there is so much to see and so much food to eat and I just want to quit my job so I can do this every day...but I got to work.

Where is your favourite cafe in Edinburgh? I'm always looking for new places to try.
